I believe in transparency and minimalism, not just in design, but in data. This policy explains what little information is collected on arizenai.com and why. My goal is to be as clear and straightforward as possible.

The Short Version

  • I only collect the data necessary for the site to function and for me to send you new articles if you subscribe.
  • I use a privacy-first analytics provider that does not use cookies or track you across the web.
  • I will never sell your data.

What Information I Collect and Why

1. If you subscribe as a member:

  • What I collect: Your name and email address.
  • Why I collect it: To send you new posts, to allow you to log in to access members-only content, and to personalize our communication. Your subscription is managed by Ghost's secure, built-in membership system.
  • If you choose a role or main interest when subscribing to Arizen, I store your selections with your subscriber record to plan what I write.
  • Book early-reader lists: If you join the early-reader list for a book, I also store the role and main interest you choose, and use them only to plan book updates. Joining a book list does not subscribe you to the Arizen newsletter.

2. If you browse the website:

  • What I collect: Anonymous, aggregated usage data. This includes things like which pages are popular, what countries visitors are from, and what websites referred them.
  • Why I collect it: To understand what content is most valuable to readers so I can write more of it.
  • How I do it: I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool. It is designed to measure traffic, not track individuals. It does not use cookies and does not track your browsing habits across different sites.

Third-Party Services

This is an exhaustive list of the services I use to run this site. I have chosen each one for its best-in-class security and function.

  • DigitalOcean: The cloud infrastructure provider that hosts the arizenai.com website.
  • Cloudflare: Provides performance, security, and our privacy-first analytics.
  • Mailgun: The email delivery service that sends transactional emails (like your login link) and newsletters to your inbox.
  • Stripe: The service that securely handles the creation of member accounts for Ghost (even for free members).

I do not share your data with any other third parties.

Your Rights & How to Manage Your Data

You have complete control over your information.

  • To Unsubscribe: Simply click the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email you receive from me.
  • To Update or Delete Your Data: You can manage your member account through the Ghost Portal (the floating button on the site). If you wish for your account to be deleted entirely, please contact me directly.
